Random packing is kind of tower packing, whichhas its own advantages. There are many typesof metal random packing, like roschig rings, porings, cascade minl rings, intalox saddle ringssuper raschig rings, conjugate ring..Random packing is a filter material used in distillation and dispersion columns to increase the surface area of vapor and liquid in contact, thereby enhancing the efficiency of chemical separation. It enhances separation efficiency, reduces energy consumption, and reduces equipment pressure drop. Chemical separations include distillation absorption and Stripping.
- Distillation: Where liquid mixtures are separated into their components based on different boiling points.
- Absorption: In which certain components are extracted from a gas by dissolving them into a liquid.
- Stripping: Used to remove volatile compounds from a liquid.

Application areas
In most chemical separation (aka mass transfer) processes, vapor is driven upward in the column by heat and pressure while liquid falls downward in the column under the force of gravity.
The larger the random packing, the higher the capacity, but at a cost of lower efficiency. The smaller the packing, the higher the efficiency but at a cost of lower capacity and higher financial cost.
