Trays are a key component in tray columns. They enable intimate contact between two fluids - typically a liquid and a vapour - to facilitate mass transfer and achieve effective separation of components in a mixture. Traditionally made of metal, trays are designed with numerous perforations and specialized components to maximize interaction and tray performance.
We produce a range of trays to suit different applications and processing conditions, including Bubble Tray, Sieve Tray, Float Valve Tray, and Fixed Valve Tray. Each has its unique structure and characteristics to match your process requirements.
Bubble trays feature small, round "caps" mounted on short chimneys. Vapour enters through the chimney and exits downward through slots in the cap, forcing it to disperse into the liquid below.
This configuration guarantees high tray efficiency and operational flexibility across a wide range of flow conditions.
Key Features:
Large production capacity
Wide liquid flow range
Reliable, flexible operation
Leakage-proof tray design
Application:
Bubble trays are widely used in food, beverage, alcohol, and chemical industries where persistent vapour-liquid contact is desirable.
Sieve trays consist of a flat plate perforated with numerous small holes. Vapour simply pass upward through these holes, contacting descending liquid directly.
Compared to bubble trays, sieve trays are simpler in structure, cheaper to produce, and allow for about 15% higher tray efficiency with a 20% to 50% lower manufacturing cost.
Key Features:
Higher tray loading
Lower pressure drop
Lower maintenance
Durable, simple design
Application:
Sieve trays are widely used in petroleum refining, natural gas processing, and many distillation applications.
The fixed valve tray comprises small, nonmovable valves cut directly into the tray plate.
The valves are designed to create small flow resistance while retaining liquid on the tray.
Key Features:
Durable, simple structure
Low manufacturing cost
Less prone to clogging
Application:
Fixed valve trays are often applied in large columns and services where robustness and low maintenance are desirable.
Float valve trays employ movable valves that lift and drop in response to vapour flow.
This lets the tray regulate flow and maintain high mass transfer across a broad range of vapour flow rates - typically 20%-40%.
Key Features:
Large turndown ratio
Reliable, flexible performance
Low pressure drop (about 3-5 × 136 Pa)
60%-80% cost of bubble trays
Application:
Float valve trays are frequently used in applications where flow conditions fluctuate and control is required across a large range of vapour flow.
