Compared to random packing, structured packing is more efficient in systems requiring precise separation performance and is widely used in high-vacuum or high-purity distillation columns.
Typical forms include wire mesh corrugated packing and perforated plate corrugated packing, both of which are stacked in layers inside towers and customized to column size. Structured packing provides excellent gas-liquid distribution and mass transfer surface, making it ideal for energy-saving and high-efficiency chemical processes.
Perforated Plate Corrugated Packing (also known as metal structured packing) is formed by stacking thin, perforated metal sheets into a uniform corrugated structure. Each plate contains embossed dimples (about 1 mm deep) to increase surface roughness and promote liquid spreading. The corrugated structure is aligned alternately to form crossing channels, enhancing gas-liquid contact.
